Greenleaf remediates petroleum-impacted soil and water two ways: at our permitted facility near De Beque, or on your own site — using the same accelerated biochemical treatment either way.

At our site

Bring the material to the Mesa Facility. It is characterized, received against an approved profile, treated, and verified — with the whole chain of custody held in our operating record, and no residual site obligation left with you.

At your site

When the volume is large, the haul is long, or the material is better handled where it sits, Greenleaf performs the soil and water remediation on your property instead. Same treatment, same verification standard, without the disposal miles.

Contaminants

Not just hydrocarbons.

Petroleum is the most common thing we're called for, but it is rarely the only thing in the ground. Greenleaf handles the rest of what shows up in a site investigation — and where a contaminant will not respond to biological treatment, we say so and use a different pathway.

Petroleum hydrocarbons

Diesel and gasoline range organics, BTEX, hexane, methanol, and the wider VOC and SVOC set. Crude, condensate, lube and hydraulic oil, jet fuel, kerosene, bunker-C.

Pathway: accelerated biochemical treatment.

Salts, chlorides & brine

Produced water releases, brine spills, and alkali or salt-impacted soils from habitat rehabilitation work. Chlorides, sulfates, phosphates, and nitrates in soil or water.

Pathway: excavation and disposal, or the Class I well for the liquid fraction.

Metals

Metals-impacted soils from industrial sites, sandblast media, scale, and legacy operations. Biology does not consume a metal, so nothing here is dressed up as treatment.

Pathway: characterization, then placement in a certified Section 3 cell.

Chemical spills

Self-neutralized acids and bases, glycols, methanol and ethanol, antifreeze, drum and vacuum truck rinseate, and the soil and absorbent that came into contact with them.

Pathway: depends on the chemistry — we will tell you which before you commit.

Impacted water

Monitoring and extraction well groundwater, pit and sump water, contact stormwater, dredge spoils and their wastewater, and process waters from industrial sites.

Pathway: Class I injection well or the lined pond system.

Low-concentration TENORM

Tank bottoms, filter socks, press cake, and residuals from cleaning pipelines, flow lines, and vessels — accepted below Colorado's administrative levels.

Pathway: characterization support, then certified disposal.

Most sites are a mixture

A tank farm release is hydrocarbon and metals. A produced water spill is salt and hydrocarbon. A legacy yard can be all three plus TENORM. Greenleaf handles the whole site rather than the one contaminant that suits a single process — which is the practical advantage of running a treatment capability, a Class I well, and certified cells at the same company.

The core capability

Accelerated biochemical treatment.

Two agents, applied together or alone depending on the season and the contaminant. The chemical releases hydrocarbon from the soil matrix; the biology consumes it.

Chemical — Chemionyx

A chemical with electrokinetic, hyper-wetting, and sequestering properties that acts directly on the oil molecule, releasing it from the solids so it becomes available. Because the process does not depend on oxygen, chemical treatment alone carries the work through the cold months.

Biological — System ETX

Naturally occurring petroleum-feeding bacteria, cultured in dose tanks and acclimated to the specific waste over 10 to 15 days, then deployed with bionutrients to metabolize the freed hydrocarbons. Used in the warmer months, alone or combined with chemical.

Treatment runs as a closed loop. A lot is not finished on a schedule — it is finished on a result.

Not conventional landfarming

Doses are typically applied once rather than repeatedly. Aeration is generally unnecessary. The process operates at high waste concentrations and is not oxygen-dependent. Where conventional landfarming runs for years, this completes in a treatment application plus a maturation period.
