Beneficial Reuse

Greenleaf is pursuing beneficial reuse authorizations for all waste streams being delivered to its facility and anticipates a future of complete recycling.

Road Spray, Brines and Clean Water

Greenleaf’s finality is converting all waste delivered to its facility into permitted beneficial reuse products.  Our first recycled wastewater product design will be a road spray used for both dust suppression and de icing.  We are working with the leading industry provider to create a product that meets the Pacific Northwest Road Spray Association standards.  We anticipate the permitted beneficial reuse product being available early 2017.  We are also pursuing reuse options of potable water and light and heavy brines.

Greenleaf will utilize solids conversion systems for stabilizing and solidifying treated solids into synthetic ceramic blocks or synthetic gravel. A unique combination of natural minerals and alkaline earth chlorides and oxides is used to covert waste to durable non-leaching and non-toxic solids. This process has been deployed with success in The Baken, North Dakota. The process is also an excellent process to reduce TENORM impacted waste by reducing both leachable NORM and energy flux through densification.

Energy

Greenleaf plans a future build out of additional solid cells in 2017 ensuring capacity well into the future. Greenleaf has also partnered with Plasma Development llc to place plasma treatment technologies at its facility. – Plasma treatment is gasification of organic waste and direct plasma treatment of inorganic waste, which respectively are extremely efficient and non-polluting technologies to transform organic waste into energy (syngas) and inorganic waste into a vitrified, neutralized aggregate (Plasmarok™). Syngas gas is then used in a gas engine or fuel cell to generate heat and power.  Please click the button to learn more
